The intro

Firstly in this segment of my film, I have decided to use a establishing shot to try and establish the scenery and the fact that it cuts in just as they go past the bus stop so it's trying to signal to the audience that they have just come off the bus and the use of the casual clothing costume in addition with the backpacks suggests that they will be attending school and with them being so close and having some dialogue also indicates that they are close friends. I specifically made sure I filmed during sunny weather to try and create some irony as the genre is horror and people usually associate the "horror" genre with dark aspects such as costumes, scenery along with anything else. I also filmed on a sunny do try and enhance the effect of the horror as later on I use a dark theme no some of the filming.

walking on the pavement

walking on the pavement

So in this segment of my short film you can see that this was them just coming off the bus, and walking to school and I tried to make sure the audience fully knew this as they were dressed in casual clothing and they also had backpacks with them to fit the general costume that school children would were. So here I did a 2 shot mid shot to try and make the audience feel connected to them, also with there emotions and I made them have some general conversation about the football and the audience can see there football fans as they are holding a football to try and indicate they also play it and incorporated with the bouncing it's hard to miss the football with them. I added this talk to my film as it also appealed to my target audience as they majority of younger audiences are into sport and most noticeably football. I also added a comedic effect, where they talk badly about certain clubs and the jokes are mostly understood by those who follow football. I struggled to pick up audio due to cars constantly coming past and so I had to stay close to them to make sure we picked up the audio. There was also the problem of keeping the camera still whilst staying close to them and constantly moving at the same time.

Antagonist

So in this segment of the film I used and angled long-shot from behind and I used effects such as making the screen black and white and used some horror music that I found on Jamendo where they provide non-copyright music so it was free to use and this helped cement the atmosphere as horror and the camera was supposed to be a first person view of the antagonist. It's also behind a bus shelter to make the audience aware that this antagonist doesn't want to be seen and may not be a real figure.

walking in to school

After the whole of the class watched it the Teacher pointed out an mistake that I did which was that I skipped some of the footage of when they were walking in to the school which is something I can change in the future. So for this I did a long shot to try and suggest that they were getting into a new stage of the film or the penultimate stage of the film. For this bit I deliberately made sure there speech wasn't heard and that the wind was the main audio to try and suggest that the wind was a big factor of the audio to try and emphasise that the antagonist is coming as before you could only hear it slightly less

black out

Now with this segment it could defiantly be improved as the actors weren't quite sure how to execute there part as I wanted them to fall as hard as they could without injuring themselves which was hard as they hadn't had much experience beforehand of falling so we gave it our best shot and then the fall ended up being more comedic but he was the more comedic character so it worked out better anyways. Then the camera focused on the other actor to show that he was falling down just like his friend before him but for this one I used a extreme close up shot in order to connect the audience with him as strongly as I could and he acts confused and then soon after he falls from the camera and there is a blackout.

Forest scene

So with this scene there was no audio from the characters at all but it was in the first person view of the main character and this was the scene was trying to depict that they've been abducted and placed into a forest, and also unconscious as they were looking around with nothing to see and I tried to make it like they were unconscious as I put a red filter over the display and I tried to make it slightly blurry but It didn't really have that much of an effect. and then the camera went down again to try and suggest that they've died.

Waking up scene

So with this scene I put the camera in first person view of the character "Sam" waking up and I used effects to make it blurry and the audio was also a bit echoed in a way to try and suggest that this character has woken up from a very deep sleep and then his friend who is called "Estebo" laughs at him for going to sleep, and also mentions how late it is and that they need to go home. I had to make a few changes during this part as i was struggling for time and the weather rarely comes again on how it was on the film. But in the latter parts of this scene the antagonist chases them and then it ends on "what the" and furthermore cuts out.

Final scene

With the last scene I maxed out the effects I could put on as whilst I was filming I realised I couldn't make it dark enough in order to make it seem like a horror film. So I went ahead anyway and I decided to use no audio in this part to make it as scary as possible but I made the character smile outside of the room as I thought it would add a scary effect but after receiving feedback I realised that this was more a comedic effect, The character Sam then runs away in distraught after knowing his friend was behind the whole thing and I decided to end it on a cliffhanger to make the audience wonder what will happen next. In the whole film I definanley could of added more of a story to the film as after receiving feedback I feel as I used too little dialogue and I should of used a bit more dialogue so the audience understood the story better.

After recieving feedback and responses from people who had watched my film and watching my film over and over again I realised it wasn't that good so I then decided to change it and make it even better by using that feedback and improving my film

I also filmed on a sunny do try and enhance the effect of the horror as later on I use a dark theme no some of the filming.

For this segment of my film I didn't change anything as I still wanted to keep the establishing shot where they were going past the bus stop to try and show to the audience that they have just come off the bus

walking on the pavement

So in this segment of my short film you can see that this was them just coming off the bus, and walking to school and I tried to make sure the audience fully knew this as they were dressed in casual clothing and they also had backpacks with them to fit the general costume that school children would were. So here I did a 2 shot mid shot to try and make the audience feel connected to them, also with there emotions and I made them have some general conversation about the football and the audience can see there football fans as they are holding a football to try and indicate they also play it and incorporated with the bouncing it's hard to miss the football with them.

Now for the amendments I made for this scene are that I made changes to what both the characters said as I felt from watching the original film and gaining feedback that this made the audience confused about what the genre was as this part was originally about 15 seconds long which took up a lot of the film and from the feedback the audience felt as if this part was confusing them into thinking it was more of a comedy film rather than a horror film. So I decided to make it smaller so that the audience didn't think it was anymore than a bit of conversation.

This is the first major change I made, after gathering feedback from peers who watched the film I noticed that people didn't really understand that the first-person camera view was supposed to be the antagonist following them but rather they thought that it was to show that it was approaching a major part of the film so I knew I had to change it. So what I did was that I made the antagonist non-existent in the film and the only trace of him appears at the end when Ronald gets a message from an unknown number saying "I told you to KILL him", and the whole scene changes as this time Ronald bangs David on the head and he falls to the ground unconscious and the audience know this as he doesn't move at all. Then Ronald will then proceed to drag David in the next part. I also changed the camera shot to a side angle mid shot of them rather than a first person view of the antagonist chasing them.

Amendments are below the forest scene

Forest scene

So with this scene there was no audio from the characters at all but it was in the first person view of the main character and this was the scene was trying to depict that they've been abducted and placed into a forest, and also unconscious as they were looking around with nothing to see and I tried to make it like they were unconscious as I put a red filter over the display and I tried to make it slightly blurry but It didn't really have that much of an effect. and then the camera went down again to try and suggest that they've died.

For all of these scenes here I scrapped them as after gathering feedback that these scene didn't really make sense so I changed it so that David woke up in a first person view in a classroom on his own which had a black and white colouration and was a dark room to try and make sure the genre was clear as horror films are very commonly set in darker and more secluded places which I didn't really do in the first edition of my film. then what happens next is that it turns into a side angle mid shot of David going towards the door and then it turns back into the first person view of David and then I put a music track on and turn off the audio. David then sees Ronald for a brief second on the film and then there is a small blackout and then David runs off in the shock of his best-friend abducting him and he then falls to the ground on some grass and there will be another brief pause and the camera is in first person view of David who will then get punched by Ronald and then the camera will cut out

For the final film I have changed a lot from the original film, firstly I have changed the fact that these characters are both together as originally the Antagonist was trying to go for both of them but now however Ronald is part of the Antagonists group so I just made it so David was just on the bench wandering what had happened to him and he thought that he had a "weird dream" when in actual fact he got hit in the head and his "bestfriend" had turned against him. I also changed the background noises coming from other people who weren't part of the film and filmed when it was less populated as the responses to the film said that they didn't really understand where they were going but now that I have done this it will try and indicate that it's late in the day and that he is going home.

In the whole film I definatley could of added more of a story to the film as after receiving feedback I feel as I used too little dialogue and I should of used a bit more dialogue so the audience understood the story better.

For the ending of the new film I completely changed it as before it ended on when David fell onto the floor which didn't create enough meaning, so I changed it to Ronald looking on his phone with the message from an unknown number saying "I told you to KILL him", which is from the main antagonist who was originally in the first film however I decided to remove him to create a spooky effect as the audience have no idea who this person is and their intentions. It all ends on a long-shot of Ronald having a small shake of the head and then walking towards David and here it ends off in a cliffhanger.
